Here's some of the prints we made in the screen printing workshop we ran in Istanbul.All the prints were made in the space over 5 days using found photographs, photocopies, and random drawings. A massive thanks to the good people of Dukkan for inviting us over and sharing their amazing city with us (and the Raki of course!!!). We can't wait to get back out there some time. Ok we have been trying to find time in the amazing jumbled-up chaos that is Istanbul to make a blog post about our trip. After four mind swoggling days of being driven in circles around the seven sprawling hills of the city by lost taxi drivers, haggling for deals on screen printing materials that don't really exist and trawling the endless alleyways and corridors of the bazaar to find plastic pots from china, everything is running smooth like babaganoosh. Heres some behind the scenes pix..Only two days left of our show out here, we wish we could stay much longer..big up, maximum boost to all our new friends out here.

Last month we were asked to take part in an exhibition called New Lexicons of Dark in Hoxton. We had been looking for a space to show our on-going project Xerox Xekt, an 8 ft high screen-printed drone pyramid. The installation plays on the power of repetition, cult like mind control and also references how particular sound frequencies have been used within many places of worship to facilitate certain states of mind. This is the second time we have showed this work. Thanks to Schtikytape for the noise!

Many apologies for the recent lack of posts, it's been a little hectic the last few weeks. One of the projects we've been working on is the identity and and program for the 2011 London International Documentary Festival. With a deadline on Friday 13 it was only to be expected that there would be a few hitches, our favourite being a file corruption 11 hours before print deadline. The only thing for it was an all nighter redoing the file full of swearing and pizza. Anyway, considering everything, we are pretty pleased with the result. The festival is still running until 28/5 and they are showing lots of great films, for an online program check out the LIDF website.

A few years ago I was asked to do some work for the Music and Video Exchange website.
This was sort of a dream job as I have been buying vinyl from this long-standing London institution
since a teenager. I spent a few days trawling through piles of vinyl and photographing
what I found. The aim was to make a series of collages to reflect the character of the shops.

Last week we finished the Factory Floor posters we have been working on. We are pretty happy with them. After a brutal couple of weeks in a relentless print vortex, absorbing ink, load noise, and tea, trying out different colours, overprints, underprints and gradients we finally all managed to agree , well sort of, on these. The first is a fluro red with an ultramarine overprint. The second is a 3 colour glow in the dark extravaganza!! Both prints are an edition of 40 on SRA2 cyclus, numbered and stamped.

It's been an amazingly fun and tiring week moving the Heretic studio to NEU gallery for the Anti Design Festival (ADF). We have worked our way through endless amounts of black markers, tracing paper, photocopies, SRA2 paper, ink and wine. With the help of our friends from Bare Bones and Le Gun we produced no less than 20 prints + a double sided fold down zine summing up the week. We are all buzzing with new ideas from the experience and the direct communication with all the people who popped in and had a chat, quite a few people went a way with a print or two in their hand as we were selling all the prints for a bargain £10.00 (all in editions of ten). Here is a selection of photos to sum up the week.

We were asked by SAVE THE CHILDREN to make some kites to adorn their tent at Womad, Big Chill, and Camp Bestival. They will be making kites with kids to raise awareness and educate people about the good work they do with children in Afghanistan where a quarter of children die before the age of 5.

After a day of drawing, writing, boozing, and feasting down Stoke Newington Airport with lots of new and old faces the operation relocated to Studio Heretico where another fine day was had basking, boozing, printing, feasting, and folding. We produced a 32 page 8 colour book thingy and had lots of fun. What more could you want eh?

The last couple of weeks saw the People of Print folk take over TPTP art space /gallery Montmatre, Paris. The exhibition featured a load of amazing screenprints from around the world, our Holy Shit Trinty (Trinity Saint Merde) graced the window of the gallery (above).

AN EXPERIMENTAL WEEKEND
From the Drawing Room & Heretic

This weekend 22-23 May
Sat 2pm - 7pm at Stoke Newington Airport
& Sun late afternoon drinks at Heretic print studio to pick up prints.

We'll be drawing/writing using random principles, free association, surrealist games, soundscapes, music, projections, narratives, and obviously booze.
The idea is to subvert our usual practice, and surprise ourselves into new ideas & material...
we'll transform some of our output into multicoloured prints at heretic print studio on Sunday.

We're trying to make this a small, fun and intense event, and thought you might be into this – be great to have you there!
